If you’ve lived in the Bay Area for any amount of time you have probably seen Doug McConnell’s show, Bay Area Backroads. The PB & J Campaign offers an interesting perspective on diet and environmental impact. Although it does not advocate an outright switch to vegetarianism (nor do we), it gives some insight into how our meal choices impact the world around us:

Marion Nestle Talks Food

July 16, 2008 on 11:24 am | In Main Category | No Comments

Noted food expert Marion Nestle has begun a regular column for the San Francisco Chronicle and she posted her first piece today. Here’s a little taste (bad pun alert):

My advice about healthful eating is simple:

– Eat less.

– Move more.

– Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

– Don’t eat too much junk food.

Will higher food prices help you do this? Yes, if you shop more carefully and take time to cook.

It’s a fascinating column and we look forward to reading more from Marion Nestle. You can read the whole column, here.

The NY Times has compiled a short list of foods you should add to your regular diet with the caveat that this list is not the final word on what to eat but rather, a short list of foods that you may have overlooked. You can read it, here.

The case was one of the most unusual in the annals of San Francisco crime. Although Mr. Moskovitz was a member of a prominent business family and rumors about his kidnapping circulated throughout the city, the news media kept the story quiet for four days until the police tracked down one of the suspects, seized him in a phone booth and forced him to lead homicide inspectors to the kidnappers’ lair, where they found Mr. Moskovitz and freed him.
