Slooooow Food

San Francisco will be hosting the Slow Food Nation Conference over labor day weekend. The Slow Food Movement was formed in direct response to the rise of industrialized food most visibly in the form of fast food. Author Michael Pollan will be one of the featured speakers at the event and, as usual, he shows a knack for highlighting what’s wrong with our current food chain:

 

“There’s a real need for rethinking things,” he said, adding that the world is in the midst of a food crisis, with people either starving or obese. There’s something terribly wrong, says Pollan, when “it’s cheaper to buy a double cheeseburger than a head of broccoli.”
